On 9 February the Somali terrorist organization al-Shabaab officially merged with al-Qaeda.

He was the former Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Somalia, having been appointed to the position on 27 January 2015 by the then Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke.^[1] He held that position until April 2017.

Between April–October 2017, Aynte was a Senior Advisor to the President of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo Among other tasks, he was responsible for planning and delivering the International London Conference on Somalia in May 2017.

Aynte also helped President Farmaajo on policies and procedures governing Official Development Assistance (ODA).

In November 2017, Aynte joined the United Nations as Director of Policy Planning and Strategy based in the Middle East.

During his tenure as Minister, Aynte was credited with overseeing the drafting of So
